Heat Pump Installation, Repair & Service in Panama City Beach, FL
Heat pumps provide both heating and cooling efficiently. Ideal for the Gulf Coast climate.
If you could design the perfect HVAC system for the Gulf Coast climate, it would be a heat pump. One outdoor unit delivers powerful air conditioning through our long, humid summers and then reverses to provide efficient heat during our short, mild winters — no separate furnace, no fuel deliveries, and dramatically lower heating bills than electric strip heat. Titan Gulf Air installs, repairs, and maintains heat pumps from Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, and Daikin across Panama City Beach, Panama City, Lynn Haven, and Bay County.
Founder Ivan Butsikov has spent 23 years working on heat pumps in coastal Florida, and our technicians understand how salt air, humidity, and constant summer runtime affect this equipment.
Symptoms We Help With
How a Heat Pump Works
A heat pump is an air conditioner with a reversing valve. In summer it absorbs heat from indoor air and releases it outside, exactly like a standard AC. In winter the valve flips the refrigerant flow, and the outdoor coil pulls heat out of the outside air — even at 30°F there is plenty of heat energy to capture — and delivers it indoors. Because it moves heat rather than generating it, a heat pump produces roughly three units of heat for every unit of electricity it consumes. Electric resistance heat produces one for one. That difference is why heat pumps dominate in Florida.
Modern variable-speed heat pumps go further. Their inverter compressors run continuously at whatever capacity the house needs, which improves humidity removal in summer, eliminates the temperature swings of on-off systems, and pushes efficiency ratings into the 18 to 22 SEER2 range.
Why Heat Pumps Are Ideal for Panama City Beach
Heat pumps lose efficiency in sustained sub-freezing weather, which is why they were historically less popular up north. Bay County rarely sees temperatures below the mid-20s, and even then only for a few hours — exactly the conditions where a heat pump shines. Combined with our eight-month cooling season, a heat pump in Panama City Beach works efficiently nearly every day of the year.
- One system for heating and cooling — less equipment to buy, maintain, and eventually replace.
- Winter heating costs typically 50% to 70% lower than electric strip heat.
- Excellent summer humidity control, especially with variable-speed models.
- No combustion, no gas line, no carbon monoxide risk.
- Eligible for federal tax credits and utility rebates on qualifying high-efficiency models.
- Available in ducted, ductless mini-split, and packaged configurations to fit any home.
Heat Pump Repair
Because they run in both seasons, heat pumps accumulate more operating hours than any other residential HVAC equipment, and coastal exposure adds corrosion to the mix. The heat pump repairs we see most often in Bay County include failed reversing valves and solenoids, defrost board and sensor failures, refrigerant leaks at corroded coil joints, failed capacitors and contactors, outdoor fan motor failures, and communication faults in variable-speed systems. Our trucks carry parts for all major brands, and every repair is diagnosed with a full-system inspection, priced flat-rate, and tested under load before we leave.
Call (850) 866-1641 for our current diagnostic fee — it is quoted up front and applied toward the repair when you approve the work. Titan Shield members receive 10% off repairs, and Comfort, Elite, and Ultimate members save 15% to 25%.
Heat Pump Installation & Replacement
Whether you are replacing an aging heat pump, converting from a straight-cool AC with electric heat, or building new, correct sizing is critical. An oversized heat pump short-cycles, fails to dehumidify, and wears out early; an undersized one leans on expensive auxiliary heat all winter. We perform a Manual J load calculation on every installation, evaluate your ductwork, and present options with real annual operating cost estimates. Coastal-protected coils, elevated mounting, and a properly commissioned refrigerant charge are standard on every Titan Gulf Air installation, and we handle the Bay County permit and inspection.
Heat Pump Maintenance for Coastal Longevity
A heat pump that runs year-round needs care twice a year. Our spring visit focuses on cooling performance and coil condition; our fall visit verifies heating mode, defrost operation, and auxiliary heat. Both include a freshwater rinse of the outdoor coil to remove salt, drain line treatment, electrical testing, and a digital diagnostic report delivered to your Client Portal. Titan Shield provides two inspections free; Titan Comfort adds full tune-ups and coastal coil rinses that can add years to a heat pump’s life near the Gulf.
